Providence City Archivist Paul Campbell will give a talk entitled "Treasures in the City's Attic: Recent Discoveries at the Providence City Archives" on Saturday, December 10th at 1:45 p.m. in the Lownes Room at Brown University's John Hay Library on Prospect Street in Providence. A highlight of his talk will be the recent find of the Providence Town Charter of 1648 and the discovery of Town Meeting Records from the Revolutionary War period found in the basement of City Hall.
Campbell has been Providence City Archivist since July 2010. He is the author or co-author of eight books on Rhode Island subjects and for eight years served as Director of the Rhode Island Historical Society Library.
Also available for viewing at the Hay Library is an exhibit "The Art of Roger Williams: Providence at 375 Years." The exhibit features 300 years of Williamsonia from the Hay Library's Special Collections as well as items from the personal collection of historian Albert Klyberg with other additions.
